Bones for Life ® Professional Certification Training AND/or Wellness RETREAT

Center at WestwoodsCome for a professional training and/or wellness retreat in Bones for Life® in Westwood, Massachusetts, in beautiful surroundings at the Center at Westwoods. Enjoy the wonderful healing/learning environment of the Meditation Hall, walking the labyrinth during breaks or following the many paths on conservation land while immersing yourself in this ingenious Bones for Life Wellness Program and obtaining your professional certification at the same time. Or come enjoy learning Bones for Life (BFL) for your own bone health, well-being, and "biological optimism!"

Bones for Life is a revolutionary program of movement theory and practice created by Senior Feldenkrais® Trainer, Ruthy Alon. It is based on the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, and is designed to improve balance and posture, and stimulate bone strength and resilience, entirely through natural movement. This work is ideal for anyone wishing to prevent or reverse osteoporosis, and everyone is welcome to attend for personal health, growth, and rejuvenation. Great for musicians and equestrians too! This course also serves as the first step in becoming trained as a professional Bones For Life Teacher. For coaches, massage therapists, bodyworkers, somatic educators, yoga teachers, personal trainers and fitness instructors, this training offers you new avenues to enrich your professional practice while earning 22 NCBTMB CE hours per module. The Bones for Life curriculum will be supplemented by helpful centering and concentration practices drawn from "Leadership Embodiment" Aikido-based Mindfulness Program of Wendy Palmer.

Learning Objectives

  • Enhance your bone strength with safe, dynamic weight-bearing movement
  • Improve your posture by cultivating a reliable anti-gravity axis
  • Coordinate patterns of movement that minimize compressive forces on your spine
  • Create springy pulsations of pressure that promote your bone health
  • Adopt strategies to ensure the safety of your joints
  • Increase your ability to go up and down stairs with comfort and ease
  • Promote better balance and stability, as well as enhance your ability to fall safely
  • Reduce stiffness, aches and pains, and restore your pleasure and joy in moving
  • Maximize your well-being and vitality

Certification Requirements

Ruthy Alon and the Foundation for Movement Intelligence have expanded the Bones for Life (BFL) Program into a 3 level Certification Procedure:

  1. Basic Program (3 segments)
  2. Teacher
  3. Trainer

The Basic Program is comprised of 90 Bones for Life processes which can be taught in different formats. (This training is in the three segment format). While Basic Program segments can be repeated for personal benefit, you are in fact required to do so (called Advanced Study the second time you take it), if you wish to become a certified Bones for Life Teacher or Trainer.
